Production 5- Interviews Continued
At Plato’s Closet I talked to a worker who was able to answer my questions regarding the fast fashion trend. I have been there before to exchange clothes for a small profit. That is how they make their business, customers come in to donate clothes and they can either get cash back directly or they can shop around with store credit. It is a functional system that is highly beneficial to both parties involved. Not to mention the great advantages of thrifting on the environment. Anyhow, one of my main questions for this establishment was “have they seen an increase in sales since this movement has become more aware of fast fashion?” Comparatively, “have they seen increase in people bringing clothes into the store?” I found that there has in fact been an increase on both fronts. Ever since the fast fashion movement has gained some traction there has been more people trying to make a difference in any way they can. This can be done by donating more clothes and thrifting instead of buying from fast fashion businesses. In turn, overall sales have risen over time but not exceedingly. It is however important to note that sales have not risen dramatically as of late due to Covid-19.
